It’s no secret that over the years, a massive media shift has taken place as video has become more popular and the preferred choice for online content. Digital media engages the viewer and it’s proven to be far more effective and memorable compared to conventional print.

Research shows that people not only have more of a thought-response to digital images and creative visuals, but the actual substance of those graphics is easier to recall. Hence the expression, “a picture is worth a thousand words.”

But how many words is a video worth? According to Dr. James McQuivey of Forrester Research, one minute of video is worth 1.8 million words – the equivalent of 3,600 web pages. If you were to write one web page an hour, it would take 150 days of writing nonstop to create the same impact as one minute of video.

According to a study by the Online Publishers Association, the influence of videos on consumers is irrefutable: 80 percent of Internet users recall watching a video ad within the past 30 days. Of that 80 percent, 46 percent took action after viewing the ad:
*26 percent looked for more information about the subject of the video
*22 percent visited the website named in the ad
*15 percent visited the company represented in the video ad
*12 percent purchased the specific product featured in the ad
