FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (May 25, 2016) – Jill Johns, the newest member of the DND Associates team, traveled to Washington, D.C. earlier this month with a contingent of fellow representatives from the National Association of Realtors® for the mid-year 2016 Realtors® Legislative Meetings & Trade Expo.

While in the nation’s capital, Johns personally met with an influential group of state and local legislators from South Florida, including Debbie Wasserman-Schultz and Lois Frankel, to advocate for the preservation of property and homeownership rights.

Among one of the most important amendments is a proposal affecting private flood insurance. The House of Representatives unanimously approved H.R. 2901, the “Flood Insurance Market Party and Modernization Act” but it has yet to be brought to the Senate floor for a vote. This proposal is especially significant as it could affect millions of South Florida property owners who require flood insurance. Current regulations state that if a homeowner has a federally related mortgage they must maintain a “continuous amount of flood insurance coverage” if their home is located in a Special Flood Hazard Area. As it stands now, property owners may not satisfy the “continuous coverage” requirement should they opt to drop the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) in favor of an alternate private market option. If a policyholder leaves the NFIP for these market options, they could jeopardize their grandfathered status and face substantial rate increases should they later decide to return to a NFIP policy. Johns and her fellow representatives are encouraging Senators to take congressional action and vote on this measure.

(January 13, 2016) – DND Associates, a Fort Lauderdale-based luxury real estate team affiliated with ONE Sotheby's International Realty, announced they recently closed a major $27.5 million deal, the largest residential real estate transaction to date in Broward County. In addition, they closed an $8.2 million transaction next door.

DND Associates was the exclusive listing agent for a spectacular 17,037-square-foot Harbor Beach estate located at 5 Harborage Isle Drive in Fort Lauderdale on the uber-exclusive, guard-gated Harborage Island. The team brokered the deal and secured terms for the intricate contract in just under two months, an impressive feat considering the property had previously been on the market for two years when listed by The Jills, a Miami-based brokerage.

“We remained focused and worked extremely hard the past few months to finalize this complicated deal.
